Testing

Testing is done on the cabon fiber shredder to insure it preforms up to requirements. These tests include: vibration test during a dry run and while shredding, RPM test, and shred length. The vibration test is measured with a dial indicator zeroed on the side of the frame while it is idle. Then during operation a video is taken of the dials reading for future analysis to find the range of motion both while shredding and while running at max RPM not shredding. The RPM test uses a tachometer to measure the RPM of the shredder during operation. Lastly, the sred length will be a test to find the average and range of the length of shreds.

Elegant Abstract Background
Vibration Test

The dail indicator is placed against the frame to mesure the vibration of the shredding device. The device is recorded at 240 FPS to see the how much the device vibrates at while shredding and not shredding. The maximum displacement was 0.01".

Dry Run Test

The position of the shredding modual was percicly measured and checked. the speed of rotaion was measured and visual checks of the machine was taken as speed increased. The disired speed of 1500 was acheived and measured.

Shred Length Test

The resulting shreds from the carbon fiber are collected and measured to find thier average size and distribution. The shreds averaged 0.43 inches ranging from 0.16-0.90 inches.
