Schedule
Fall
The design process will take place in Fall quarter from the middle of September to the beginning of December. This Includes the analysis, drawings, and proposal report. The analysis will first be based on the flywheel followed by the housing and shaft assembly. After the analysis of these parts are accomplished, they are drawn up in SolidWorks using ANSI Y14.5 standards. The drawings will be put together in an assembly showing how all parts fit together. During this process, time will be taken in conversing with team partners to ensure the end products will be compatible.
Winter
The construction will be completed mainly in the winter quarter from January to March. Most of the parts and material should be ordered as soon as possible. Complications may arise in shipping time; this will be minimized by ordering parts as soon as they can be. The whole construction of the parts will be done first incase of manufacturing mistakes require new materials to be ordered. The order in which parts will be manufactured will be as follows: Frame Plates, Angle Iron, Acrylic, Hinge, Idler Mount, Mounting Table, Keys, Shafts, and Covers.
Spring
The testing process will take place in the Spring quarter from March to June. The constructed device will be evaluated to test for potential changes. These changes will have to be minor as time is limited for ordering replacement parts and redesign. Tests will relate to the analysis don’t in the design phase. First test that will take place will be the RPM test. Second test will be the vibration test. Lastly the shreds will be measure for the final test.
